Final project

Here is the things that I would most use in my futur classroom: 1. I would definitely use Audioboo, because it is a very good speaking and listening practice. The students would get used to underestand French by just listening to me, and they will practice speaking French:
2. I would certainly use music in my class: Here is a song that I chose for FSL students, to introduce the 'er' regular verbs infinitif and present. I found it useful, because the sentences of the lyrics are short and easy to repeat.

3. I would use jeopardy, because it is fun, interesting and engaging. It can be used to practice vocabulary, grammar qnd other things. An example of Jeopardy that I have made is here: My Jeopardy Template

day 10- BEYOD teachers

The article reminded me of a comparison between pencil and electronic devices that Gordon had mentioned a few weeks ago, by which the use of pencil in classroom would be as risky as electronic devices, for example the students are not allowed to use pencils in classroom because they might write inappropriate things or stab eachother. In fact, even now, we still have students who do not use pencils the way they should, they write messages on their papers, while (not) listening to their teacher, or draw, instead of taking notes, etc. I think the use of technology in class will increase and they will replace pen and paper. It is the teacher's task to manage the use of it and to teach the students how to take benefit of it in class. However, I'm not sure if just by allowing the students to use their electronic devices in class would reduce the risk of distraction by using them inappropritely in class.

Day 9 - powerpointlessness

It is a really interesting article and talks about the very basic and important points to be considered when creating a powerpoint presentation. I remember the last powerpoint presentation done by one of my classmates. It was really boring and each slide contained very long paragraph that she read outloud while presenting. In fact, she had created this powerpoint to avoid memorizing the main points she wanted to mention. I liked the idea of not having more than 12 words on each slide. It is also important to avoid "special effects" that distract instead of help the audience to understand the subject being presented. I think both teachers and students need to get some training on the contents of the Powerpoints on top of the technical issues.

Day 7-Nancy White's article (curation)

To be honest, when I saw the title, I was tempted to google the definition of "curation", as it was really new to me, but I resisted and read the first paragraph, and then I decided to continue on, as I realized that the article is aimed at defining that term. Finally, I liked the idea of curation and I think it is the most useful component in a learning process for everyone. It is all about Inquiry (which was also new to me when I started my B.Ed. program) and Sharing the information. Nancy Whites considers some key concepts in her definition: Inquiry, sharing, theme, context and ownership of learning. This relates to the previous article we read on podcating in that we want the students to be creators instead of consumers. We should keep in mind that teachers are not anymore deliverers who lecture for one hour, like an actor/actress on the scene with a monologue, and the stuents as audience. Actually, the teacher is the director, but the students create the dialogue and play roles and create the play. The knowledge is not given and taken, it is built coopertaivly by inquiry and sharing.

Day 6 - Maya Payne Smart's article

I really liked the idea of educating students to be creators rather than consumers and that the goal is not podcasting but communicating. As mentioned in the article, I think the students need to learn skills such as the ability to present their ideas orally and this is what we usually miss in L2 classes. In French Immersion program, the students often don't have enough time to practice and improve their speaking skills. however, when it comes to oral presentations, the students are fricked out and don't feel confident enough to speak spontaneously in front of the class. Podcasting is an excellent opportunity for the students to practice different skills, including speaking, presenting and the use of technology. Moreover, as mentioned in the article, it is an opportunity for listening to themselves. I'm not familiar with this activity and I'd really like to know more about it and learn how to manage this activity in my class.
